Digital competence is the ability to combine knowledge (theories and principles related to technology), instrumental skills for using digital tools/media and attitudes towards strategic use, openness, critical understanding, creativity, accountability and independence (Anders Skov, internet sociologist, 2016 Center for Digital Dannelse). This course is therefore designed to help the teachers develop their digital competences and work with IT tasks for pupils at primary and secondary level. During the course, the participants will gain hands-on experience on choosing learning strategies/ digital tools that best suit their students’ needs and on integrating the use of digital tools withing the subject curriculum.

Objectives
The main objectives of this program are to:
- plan and implement meaningful teaching of Computer Science at primary and secondary level
- use the Digital Literacy document at the key stages of education
- incorporate digital skills into the curriculum
- entice pupils to explore coding and programming around us
- explore AI tools for teachers and studnets and how to use them
- discover the power of games to promote computational and soft skills
- share ideas within the professional community, both in and out of school
Methodology
The course is designed to be interactive. Participants will work in groups and also as a part of a team. They will receive links to resources that they can use to develop their own digital competences and those of their pupils. They will use critical thinking, e.g. to evaluate when and how they can use the offered/new tool. At the end of the course, each participant will prepare a plan for the development of their digital competences as well as for the development of the digital competences of their pupils.
Content
- theoretical background: know – want to know – learned (What do you already know? What do you want to learn? What have you learned?)
- sharing of existing knowledge and skills in teaching computer science and computational thinking among the participants.
- SAMR model, iPadagogy Wheel, 24/7 mode or learning to plan digital literacy at the nodal points of learning
- strategies for building students’ competences in the subject area of computer science
- planning a lesson from the perspective of building pupil competences
- choosing effective strategies in teaching, demonstration of an example of a performance activity with analysis – demonstration of work with SAMR model and iPadagogy Wheel with reflection of participants, discussion, principles of planning such an activity with regard to digital literacy at the nodal points of education
- algorithmizing, programming without a computer, with a computer, with robotic tools – demonstration of an activity/example of inspiring practice with analysis, discussion, principles of planning an activity, demonstration of reflection on the activity with students, resources for sample tasks
- encryption and coding, unplugged and Tinkering activities, demonstration of activity/example of inspiring practice with analysis, discussion, principles of planning the activity, demonstration of reflection on the activity with pupils, sources of sample tasks
- sources of inspiration, most interesting sources of inspiration, downloadable sample tasks, inspiration from participants – networking of participants, possibility to contribute sources of information to the Padlet bulletin board
- working with a specific tools: 3D printers and a robotic tool, coming up with the meaning, purpose and content of the work, evidence of pupil learning
- tools to create digital scavenger hunts, escape rooms and games to develop computational thinking
- Artificial Intelligence and its application (apps) in the school curriculum

Petra graduated from the Faculty of Education, Charles University, majoring in physics – fundamentals of technology. Gradually she finished her studies in English and Environmental Education. She currently teaches physics and English at the Dr. E. Beneš Primary School in Prague 9 – Čakovice and works there as a deputy
